Finally, you are now in the last week of your pregnancy. However, you have to bear this in your mind that though week 40 is officially known as the last pregnancy week, but often your baby takes a week or two more before coming in this world. This is also normal so don’t worry if any thing happens like that.
MOM
If your healthcare provider feels that the pregnancy has already continued long enough, he/she will suggest induction. As we have said in an introductory paragraph that due date is just an estimate and there are chances particularly for first-time mothers to have a week or two delayed labor. There are only 4% of women who deliver baby right on due date and with rest it is pretty normal to give birth two weeks earlier or two weeks later.
The women who are going to give birth to their first baby will realize by the time of labor that how fake those Braxton Hicks tightenings have been as the real tightenings are much more painful, severe and occur in waves of three to four every ten minutes and persists for about one minute.
BABY
The baby is almost ready to see the external world. The immune system of your baby is not yet completely developed and its placenta that is providing the necessary antibodies to your baby. Once the baby is born, the breast milk will serve the purpose of supplying the necessary antibodies to the baby. At the time of birth, your baby is measured around 50 centimeters with a weight of about 3.5 kilograms.
DAD
Your partner is in stage where she is not able to take care of herself, so you need to take the charge and take care of all the tasks. You must know about the three stages of labor so that you can immediately shift your partner to hospital on the right time. the first stage is somewhat the longest in which your partner starts experiencing occasional contractions gradually become severe; the second stage is transition that commences once the cervix of your partner is completely dilated; and the third and the last stage is the birth of the placenta.
So, the week 40 is now gone. If your baby is not yet born, don’t be irritated as this is normal. What you need to do is to keep practicing the breathing exercises and stay in contact with your healthcare provider. You will soon going to have your baby in your arms, just be patient.
Tip of the Week
